A native of Burwell, Nebraska, Dr. Meckel attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln, where he graduated with high distinction. He then went on to the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he received his medical degree and also graduated with high distinction. From there, he moved to the East coast where he served his internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He also completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Upon completion of his education in 1995, he moved back to Lincoln and began practicing cardiology. Dr. Meckel is one of the founders of the BryanLGH Heart Institute.
Dr. Meckel has a specialty interest in interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a member of The Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions and a member of American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He also participates in several local medical organizations including the Nebraska Medical Association and the Lancaster County Medical Society.
Dr. Meckel enjoys spending time with his wife Susan and their three children, Anna, Natalie and Jonathan.
