A native of Hartington, Nebraska, Dr. Hansen attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln, where he graduated with distinction and went on to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, where he received his medical degree. He then completed an internship with the Lincoln Combined Family Practice Program. Dr. Hansen served his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology at Creighton University Affiliated Hospital in Omaha.
Upon completing his education, Dr. Hansen practiced at Consultants in Cardiology in Omaha. From there he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he has been practicing since 1989. Dr. Hansen was one of the founders of the BryanLGH Heart Institute and serves as the group’s President.
Dr. Hansen has a specialty interest in coronary artery disease, as well as interventional cardiology. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Diseases. He has also achieved fellowship status for a number of additional professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Pain. In addition, he participates in several medical organizations including the Nebraska Medical Association, American Medical Association and Lancaster County Medical Society.
Dr. Hansen enjoys spending time with his wife Sandra, a pediatrician and their three daughters, Jennifer, Ashley and Sarah. |
