A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Coatsworth attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and went on to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, where he received his medical degree with high distinction. He then attended the University of Iowa for both his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology, where he served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology.
Upon completion of his education, Dr. Coatsworth joined Consultants in Cardiology in Omaha, Nebraska where he spent several years. He then moved to Internal Medicine Associates prior to joining the BryanLGH Heart Institute in January 2002.
Dr. Coatsworth has a specialty interest in interventional cardiology. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Diseases. He has also achieved fellowship status for a number of additional professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, and the American Heart Association Clinical Council.
In his free time Dr. Coatsworth enjoys sailing and flying.
